PET’s Experts at the Kick-off Meeting of DECA Project

Danube Energy Community Accelerator (DECA) project started with a Kick-off Meeting held from 21. to 22. February in Ptuj, Slovenia. PET co-founders Bojan Gajić and Tanja Popovicki took part in a two-day meeting that gathered partner organizations from 9 participating countries, hosted by E-institute. DECA project, funded through the Interreg Programme for the Danube Region, aims to address common challenges of energy communities and support the acceleration of community energy in the Danube region through capacity development and local pilot solutions.

The meeting was a chance for the representatives of partner organizations to get to know each other and start planning their joint work on project implementation for the next two years. Also, the meeting represented a great opportunity for partner organizations to exchange their experiences regarding community energy from their respective points of expertise.

Through learning, collaboration, and exchange of experiences, DECA Project should provide answers to the many open questions related to Energy Communities:

  • What is the difference between community energy and energy communities?

  • How can local communities benefit from the implementation of community energy projects?

  • What is the key buy-in for local communities to join energy communities?

These and some other questions were discussed among partners in order to define a common strategic framework for the project implementation.

PET will continue to contribute to the implementation of DECA project through the provision of relevant expertise, accompanying the Centre for Sustainable Energy Development (CORE), as a Project partner.
